What you’ll do

Join us for a night of words and music to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Wellcome Book Prize.

Take a seat and hear from current and former Wellcome Book Prize judges and shortlisted authors on a range of topics touching on health and medicine.

Included in the ticket price is a free limited-edition David Shrigley ‘Books are My Bag’ tote and a drink.

The bar will be open all night.

We’ll be in the Atrium, which is just inside the entrance to Wellcome Collection on level 0.

Guaranteed place

For this event, booking a ticket guarantees you a place on the day. We advise arriving 15 minutes before the event starts to take your place.

Salena Godden

Host

Salena Godden is a poet, performer and the author of a literary memoir, ‘Springfield Road’, and poetry books ‘Fishing in the Aftermath’ and ‘Under the Pier’. She is a regular guest on BBC programmes and a regular headliner at literary and music festivals.

Elif Shafak

Speaker

Elif Shafak is an award-winning author and Chair of the 2019 Wellcome Book Prize judging panel.

Philippa Perry

Speaker

Philippa Perry is a psychotherapist, agony aunt and author of ‘The Book You Wish Your Parents Had Read’. A faculty member of the School of Life, she has worked on the BBC Radio 4 programme ‘The Age of Emotion’ and contributed towards the radio documentary ‘Humiliation’.

Damien Slash

Performer

Daniel Barker is a comedian, actor, writer and voice-over artist born in London. Under the pseudonym Damien Slash he performs character comedy on BBC Radio 4 and on his YouTube channel.

Sam Lee

Performer

Sam Lee is a Mercury Prize-nominated folk singer, song collector, award-winning promoter, broadcaster, animateur and naturalist.

Rob Auton

Performer

York born writer, comedian and two time actor Rob Auton has ideas, writes them down and says them to audiences at comedy nights, poetry nights and at theatres at night.
