What you’ll do

Step into the unknown and take part in activities that include workshops on reading, communicating with a cyborg, and whether your emotions control you or not.

These events are part of Open Platform, where you are invited to run your own events sharing ideas inspired by the themes in the Reading Room.

Reading Room
Discover what silent reading sounds like. Explore the interludes that distract or interrupt us when we read, through activities and discussion with designer and creative director Matilde Maria Rasmussen.

Cyborg Whispers
Reading Room
Meet a deaf cyborg and stream spoken messages direct to her brain using her personal transmitter. Your facilitator will be writer, performer and director Sophie Woolley.

Creative Imagination and Emotional Intelligence
Reading Room
Use your creative imagination and decide whether you control your emotions, or your emotions control you. Your workshop facilitators will be neuroscientist and psychologist Dr Melanie Flory and designer and research fellow Ninela Ivanova.

Location

We’ll be in the Reading Room on level 2. You can walk up the spiral staircase to the Reading Room door, or take the lift up and then head left from the Library Desk.

Just turn up to this event. It's likely to have room for everyone.
