![INTRODUCTION AGAINST COW FOX. To investigate and expose imposition, to refute manj medical errors, and to establish demonstrative truths in the theory and practice of the art, have occupied the attention of the author through a long life incessantly dedicated to the study and practice of physic* The subsequent tract has been undertaken with the great- est diffidence and reluctance, because it miUtates against the opinions of many of the author's esteemed friends, some few of whom are of the first professional respectability both for learning and integrity ; but there is an imperious, conscientious, and religious duty, that a man may owe to society, which no friendship should impede^ nor no earthly- estimation prevent. In the present instance, the pen is re-assumed to investi- gate the merits of well-intentioned novel vaccination, com- pared with successful long-experienced Small-pox inocu- lation. On this, all to be considered depends.
