![i\° 14,462 A.D. 1892 Date of Application, 10th Aug., 1892 complete Specification Left, 10th May, 1893—Accepted, 8th July, 1893 PROVISIONAL SPECIFICATION. Improvements in Tops, Seats, or Rims for Closets and Baths. I,.Henry Sutcliffe of Staincliffe, Halifax in the County of York, Sanitary Engineer do hereby declare the nature of my invention to be as follows :— Closet and bath seats rims or tops as hitherto made are of a character such that the coldness thereof is liable to cause injury to persons seating themselves 5 thereon and especially is this the case with invalids or delicate persons. My invention has for its object to provide a seat, rim or top for closets and baths which overcomes this objection. According to my invention I make the upper surface of the seat rim or top of ground or powdered cork or mixture of cork with other materials which will not nullify the wrarmth of the cork. The 10 said cork or cork mixture may be applied in any convenient way for example it may be moulded or otherwise made into slabs of the requisite size and shape and be applied to the upper surface of a body or support of wood or other substance to give the requisite strength. A seat rim or top so made will be found to obviate the objections which apply as aforesaid to these articles as 15 hitherto made. Dated this 10th day of August 1892. J. H. JOHNSON & Co., 47, Lincoln’s Inn Fields, W.C., Agents. COMPLETE SPECIFICATION. 20 Improvements in Tops, Seats, or Rims for Closets and Baths. 1 Henry Sutcliffe, of “Staincliffe,” Halifax, in the County of York, Sanitary Engineer, do hereby declare the nature of this invention and in what manner the same is to be performed, to be particularly described and ascertained in and by the following statement:— 25 Closet and bath seats rims or tops as hitherto made are of a character such that the coldness thereof is liable to cause injury to persons seating themselves thereon, and especially is this the case with invalids or delicate persons. My invention has for its object to provide a seat rim or top for closets and baths which overcomes this objection. According to my invention I make the upper surface of the seat 30 rim or top, of ground or powdered cork, or mixture of cork with other materials which will not nullify the warmth of the cork. The said cork or cork mixture may be applied in any convenient way, for example it may be moulded or otherwise made into slabs of the requisite size and shape and be applied to the upper surface of a body or support of wood or other substance to give the requisite strength. 35 The seat rim or top so made will be found to obviate the objections which apply as aforesaid to these articles as hitherto made. In order that my invention may be better and more fully understood 1 herein give reference to the accompanying sheet of drawings. Fig. 1. represents a closet seat and Fig. 2. a bath top, the upper surfaces of the 40 wood parts, (marked B.) of which are covered with powdered cork or mixture of cork with other materials (marked A.) that will not nullify the warmth of the cork as aforesaid. The said powdered cork or mixture of cork may be applied in any convenient way but the way in which it is fixed in this instance is by glueing as in ordinary veneering.
