Taking the death-rates in the largest houses as unity, the death-rate from zymotic diseases was 2 in medium-sized houses and 4 in the smallest houses; the death- rate from diseases of the lungs was 2 in medium-sized houses and 3 in the smallest houses; and from diseases of nutrition special to children it was 2|^ in medium-sized houses and fully 5 in the smallest houses.
