![J^EBELLioN Record. Edited by Frank Moore. A Cyclopedia of the War. This -work is a corapendium of information, made up of special correspondence, ofTicial reports, and cleanings from the newspapers of both sections of the Unittd States and of Europe. Of these Litter, over five ljundred are used in its preparation. THE liiiBELLION KEOORD lias now become so firmly established as the standanl authority of the war, that individuals in all departments of the Array, Navy, and Govern- ment arc constantly sending to it, for publication, narratives of important events, and olll- cial reports unpublisheil elsewhere. In addition to this, most of the speeches, narratives, etc., elsewhere published, have been revised by their authors, specially for the KECORD. The editor has aimed at completeness, accuracy, and impartiality. Completeness has lieen secured by the fullest possible sources of information. Accuracy has been attained by deferring piililication of all matter long enough after events for the accounts of them to bo sifted. Imjiartiality has been a special object. Every authority from the Southern side has been sought for without regard to labor or expense, and all statements snd docu- ments have been inserted as originally found, ^\■ithout editori.al comment of anv kind THE EE15ELLI0N KECOED is already the m.aia source of history of the war. Most of the histories of the war yet published have been, in a great measure, compiled from the ItEBELLION llECORD. This is proved by the fact that documents cited in those works ava quoted ill tli,6 phi'aseology of the cojyies reviaed hy their authors specially for Vlb liMOOIlD, and published nowhere else. This work is of special value to statesmen, inasmuch as the course and policy of all prominent men are fully traced in it. It is indispensable to Lawyers. A large and increasing amount of liti<ration is arising on subjects connected w'ith the war, and THE REBELLION RECORD is the only com- plete repository of evidence and authority. All important Laws and leading Decisions arising oiit of the war are reported in it; and it hM already been received as authentic evidence in trial for Piracy and Treason in the United States Courts of Philadelphia, New York, Boston, and San Francisco. The Philadelphia Press of October 26, ISGI, thus spe.aks of it: During ihe trial, which terminated yesterdaj-, for jjiracy, of one of the crew of tho Jeff. Davis, a great deal of evidence was oftei'ed bv the counsel for defence taken from FiiANK MooiiE's REBELLION RECORD, and receiveii by Judges Grierand C.idwallader, who ])resided. This is a remarkable compliment to the work in question, but not higher than its merit.'A, from the fulness and fairness of its various information respecting th rebellion. It is the first time in Ic^gal .and literary history that a book not yet complete . h;is been so stamped with authenticity as to be admitted as evidence in a court of lai' and on a trial fi>r a capital oifence. The work is published in monthly parts, each containing 112 octavo pages and two por- traits. Seven monthly parts, with the index, make a volume.
