<p>A detailed review of the ways in which chemicals, in the form of therapeutic drugs, can affect cell metabolism, interact with each other, and interfere with laboratory tests. Examples from haemotology are considered in each of these catagories. Drugs well known for their tendency to cause aplasia and haemolytic anaemia are mentioned in the context of how widely they are prescribed, with illustrations of these side-effects and discussion of the circumstances in which they may occur. 5 segments.</p>
