Members of certain families, however, continue to come under notit'e owiu” tci their dirtv and \a-rminous condition, and in one case it was necessary to prosecute the parent. Four nu nibers of the famih' were concerned, and, aftir the m.i^istratcs h.id twice adjourned the case (for .a period of two months in each instance) the pare nt was fined 5s. 6d. in each case, or tt^s. in all. The attendance of parents at the inspection was as follows .— “ Leavers ” 7 per cent. “ Entrants ” 19 ,, Special Cases. When the Medical Officer visits a schfMil lor the purpose of Medical Inspection, advantji.qe is taken of the opportunity to examine such children (not fallin^r into either of the two classes. Entrants and “ Leavers ) as ha\e been noticed by the teachers to be sufferinj^ from some palpable disease or defect. The total number of such children broutt^ht to the notice of the .^ledical Officer durintf the year was 85, a decrease of 16 upon the number examined in tQib.
