About this work
Description
A pageant of Scottish medical history, in the form of a conducted tour of the medical faculties of the four ancient Scottish universities - Aberdeen, St Andrew's, Glasgow and Edinburgh. Modern, unphotogenic Dundee does not rate a mention. Features many celebrated Scottish medical graduates and educators, including William and John Hunter, Joseph Black, Joseph Lister, the Monroes of Edinburgh, James Young Simpson, James Mackenzie and Edward Jenner, and some more infamous figures, notably Burke and Hare. Visually very attractive, but the commentary a trifle soporific.
