The Death-rate in Chorley was The Death-rate throughout England 16-76 15-96 and Wales The average Death-rate in 76 of the 15-2 16-2 largest towns in England & Wales The Average Death-rate in 141 15-7 17*2 smaller towns in England & Wales The Death-rate of England & Wales 14-4 15-6 including these 217 towns was... 14-9 15*3 Considering all these figures whilst congratulating yon upon the marked decrease in the Death-rate that has been gradually established for many years, there is still considerable room for improvement. There was a decided increase in the number of Deaths during the third Quarter of 1905 as compared with the corresponding Quarter of 1904, the first and second quarters yielded about the same as in 1904 ; but there was a marked decrease in the number of Deaths in the fourth Quarter compared with the similar one in 1904. In each Quarter except the third there were fewer Deaths than the average number for the decade 1895-1904 as you will see from Table D in which the Deaths registered in each Quarter of 1905 are compared with the Deaths in each Quarter of the ten preceding years and with the average number of Deaths registered in each Quarter.
