The first contains an Ac- count of the Taking of the Dutch Convoy by Jean Du Bart. He says, “ I doubt not 1 shall be finely censured, though my direct Orders were to cruise in another Place.'’ I'he second Letter gives an Account of an unsuccessful Chase of Du Dart’s Squadron in the Channel. The gallant Admiral says, “ I am sure I used my utmost Endeavours and Diligence to execute my Orders, nor has any Thing been wanting to complete ’em but good sayling Ships, which is my misfor- tune: My opinion is Du Rart can never be taken with foule Ships, it being his chiefest care to keepe his elcane.”— These Letters are very interesting. 92 William Penn, the Founder of Pennsylvania, to Sir Richard Hadilockc, 26lh 3 Mouthy 1687.
