![THE CHAPLAIN’S REPORT. Sir, Broadmoor Asylum, 3rd July 1889. During the year ] 888 the appointed services of the church were held in the chapel of this asylum on all Sundays, and also on Ash Wednesday, Good Friday, and Christmas Day. On all other days the shortened form of Morning Prayer or Litany was said in the chapel at 8.30 a.m., and the attendance was about the same as in former years. The sacrament of the Lord’s Supper was administered on Easter Day, Whitsunday, and Christmas Day, as well as on the first Sunday in every month. The number of communicants was 33 ; viz., 14 men and 19 women. The short form of Evening Prayer continued to be used in all parts of the asylum. The customary addition was made to the library, and the supply of books was found sufficient. The school was inspected on the 22nd and 23rd of November. The number presented for examination was 113, viz., 70 in standards and 43 infants. The average attendance was 98; and per-centage of passes 90. The highest merit grant was obtained in each division, and the total amount was 951. 16s. 0d. The Inspector reports, in the upper school, (e The children are in excellent discipline ” and, in the infant school, “ the children are bright and happy, and in excellent order.” I am extremely grateful for the kind consideration and cordial support that I have uniformly experienced from the Superintendent and all the officers of the asylum in the execution of my duties.
