![OF THE MEDICAL SUPERINTENDENT OF THE LUNATIC ASYLUM FOR THE COUNTIES OF SALOP AND MONTGOMERY, AND THE ASSOCIATED BOROUGHS OF MUCH WENLOCK, SHREWSBURY, <5s OSWESTRY. ON the first of January, 1858, the Number of Patients in the Asylum was 329 (viz: 152 Males and 177 Females.) In the course of the year 100 Patients viz: 50 Males and;^ 50 Females) were admitted; 48 iviz: 22 Men and 26 Women) were discharged Recovered; 9 (viz : 2 Men and 7 Women) were discharged Relieved; 1 Woman was discharged not improved ; and 33 (viz ; 15 Men and 18 Women] died.—The number of Patients remaining in the Asylum on the 31st, December, 1858, was consequently 338 [viz : 163 Men and 175 Women].-—This shows an aggregate increase on the number of Patients remaining at the end of the previous year of 9,—an actual decrease of 2 in the number of Women, and a consequent increase of 11 on the part of the Men alone. The daily average number of Patients resident during the year, 1858, was 337 [viz: 156 Men and 180 Women]. * No person was admitted twice in the course of this year, excepting one Woman.
