SIR, I wave the honour to submit, as in six previous years, the following statistics of cases of notifiable infectious diseases. reported during the year 1917. Description of the Tables.—The statistics are tabulated in order of counties given alphabetically. | The statistics ae administrative counties as a whole are shonen. in the summary table on pp. 12-15, and for county boroughs on pp. 16-17. The statistics for each county contain information as to the incidence of the chief acute infectious diseases 1n— 1. The entire administrative county. 2. Each county borough within the geographical county. 3. The aggregate of the boroughs and urban districts situate within the administrative county. 4. The aggregate of the rural districts situate within the administrative county. 5. Each single borough and urban district. 6. Each s: ingle rural district. In the tables the number of cases and the rate per 1,000 of population are given for each of the following diséanee; _ Small-pox. Scarlet Fever. Diphtheria. Enteric Fever. Puerperal Fever.
