TO ALL TO WHOM THESE PRESENTS SHALL COME, I, Michael Linning, of Number Twenty-two, Hill Street, in the City of Edinburgh, in North Britain, Clerk to Her Majesty’s Signet, at present residing at Chryston Cottage, in the Parish of Calder, County of Lanark, send greeting. 5 WHEREAS His late most Excellent King William the Fourth, by His Letters Patent under the Great Seal of Great Britain, bearing date at Westminster, the Sixth day of February, in the seventh year of His reign, did, for Himself, His heirs and successors, give and grant unto me, the said Michael Linning, my exors, adihors, and assignees, His special licence, 10 that I, the said Michael Linning, my exors, adihors, and assigns, or such others as I, the said Michael Linning, my exors, adihors, or assigns, should at any time agree with, and no others, from time to time and at all times during the term of years therein expressed, should and lawfully might make, use, exercise, and vend, within that part of the United Kingdon of Great Britain 15 and Ireland called England, the Dominion of Wales, and the Town of Berwick-upon-Tweed, and also in all His said Majesty’s Colonies and Planta¬ tions abroad, my Invention of “ A Certain Improved Method of Operating FOR THE PtFRPOSE OF CONVERTING PEAT MOSS AND PEAT TURF OR BOG INTO
