These values show that the purified /-hyoscine hydrobromide of previous workers and the J-hyoscine hydrobromide now isolated for the first time represent one pair out of the eleven possible stereoisomeric hyoscines. On mixing equal weights of pure d- and /-hyoscine hydro- bromides and recrystallising the mixture from water, c/Z-hyoscine hydrobromide, also crystallising with three molecules of water and in a form indistinguishable from the active components, was obtained. It differs from the active components in that it very readily effloresces and in that the base obtained from it is crystal¬ line and contains two molecules of water. For the further characterisation of these three related compounds, their auri- chlorides, auribr amides, and pier at es were prepared.
