Read April 6 and September 7, 1842. These dissections were made in the spring of 1842, and, following each other in quick succession, afforded a very favor- able opportunity for comparison. The first specimen examined was that of the spermaceti whale, the internal structure of which, so far as I can ascertain, has never yet been fully described.
