    If you of the Water Committee are content to let your visitors drink out of leaden tanks, I say it is the duty of a medical man, who studies the interest of his patients, to stand forward and protect them. I say that the keepers of lodging-houses are great sufferers. They are obliged to give their lodgers the water they receive; and if the Municipal powers do not make an effort to get the leaden tanks re¬ moved, then the holders of lodging-houses are deep sufferers from causes over which they have no control. A more respectable body of inhabitants does not exist than the lodging-house keepers of these towns, kind, honest, cleanly,* and attentive, to a degree that has gained them a wide spread renown; it is a cruelty to them to be made the victims of any such circumstance. This contest, Sir, will much interest the public ; for a contest it is, far more than a research after truth. I am, dear Sir, yours truly, C. B.
