About this work

Description

A copy of a detailed financial report made by the recently appointed Superintendent (previously at the Hospital Real de San Pedro, Puebla, for 10 years) to the Archbishop of Mexico, arguing that current expenditure may be reduced to meet diminished income without materially reducing services to the 400 daily patients. The Hospital had been largely maintained by Alonso Núñez de Haro y Peralta, Archbishop of Mexico, from its foundation in 1779 to his death in 1800; in the nineteenth century it was the city's most important hospital. [See Muriel (1956-60), 2, pp. 185-203].
