Photograph of the first page of a letter from the Lord Chamberlain's office to Lister offering him the office of Surgeon Extraordinary to Her Majesty at the Queen's request. It is one of a number of photographs accumulated by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum as part of its exhibition held in 1927 to celebrate the centenary of Lister, in conjunction with The Royal Society, The British Universities Hospitals and Medical and Surgical Colleges.
