TEIE almoft innumerable complaints which have for fome years paft been made relative to Writing Ink by various perlbns of the greateft eminence in their feveral pro- fefiions, and alfo by various gentlemen who fill feveral of the moll refpedtable fituations in the Public Offices under Govern¬ ment, in the law departments, and by others who, although not immediately connedted with, are more remotely concerned in exteniive mercantile concerns in Great-Britain, Ireland, &c. are amongft the foremoft of the feveral reafons which the Proprietor offers for thus intruding himfelf on the atten¬ tion of the public. It is nQt improbable that the prefent fubjedl may to fome, at fir ft fight, feem almoft too trivial to engage their notice; but a candid inveftigation of the following detail will convince fuch that, in a commercial, nay, even in an individual point of view, there is fcarcely any article more generally fervice- able, and few are the inftances where the durability of what we ufe is of fo great importance, as the medium by which we wifh in unfading characters to tranfmit ourfelves and our moft momentous concerns to generations yet unborn.
