![nently hospitable and generous. His house was open to all who wished to enter, and none were sent empty away. Asa father, he was kind and indulgent; asa husband, tender and affectionate; as a son, dutiful and attentive; asa brother, devoted and loving; as a citizen, liberal and public spirited; as a christian, sincere, humble and devout. As a physician Dr. Lee possessed more than a com- mon degree of tact, judgment and skill. If there was any one department in which he excelled more than another, it was in diagnosis. His perceptions were all uncommonly quick and accurate; and his mental operations so rapid, that he seemed to arrive at a knowledge of disease as it were by intuition. His reading had been regular and systematic, as well as extensive, and his knowledge was always at com- mand. His mind was of a highly practical cast. Every thing was brought to the test of practical utility. Dr. Lee:was remarkably successful in the treatment of disease, and his reputation had already extended throughout many of the adjoining towns, so that he exerted a commanding influence in that part of the State. .He had no medical hobbies, and he never ventured an opinion, in a case of disease, until he had fully investigated it, and then his opinions were generally found to be correct.
