A residence at the sea side in the summer months would prove advantageous, we think, to some patients. Amongst whom, we refer especially, to Mr. ——— and Miss ——-. This lady (who is very indifferently dressed) is in rather delicate health. As we understand that Miss --—, for whom one pound weekly only is paid, formerly lived on pro¬ perty bequeathed to her by her father in a state of respect¬ ability and comfort, we trust that the Committee of the Asylum will make enquiry into the amount of her property and income, so as to be assured that they are properly protected. We have suggested that the attendants should be in¬ structed to prevent all patients from crouching on the ground, facilitating the Datum g ^ r and Recreation Hall have been built, that all the clothing is made in the house, that while one hundred and sixty-four patients of both sexes are employed, forty work on the land (fifteen being now employed in reaping the corn), and that thirty-nine acres of land are all cultivated by spade hus¬ bandry. A party of women have been lately sent for a holiday into the forest, and we witnessed (on the first day of our visit) a large party of male patients engaged in cricket, with others present as spectators, while seven or eight of the attendants performed various pieces of music on wind in¬ struments during the game. The whole scene was remark-
