What you’ll do

Be part of an exclusive after-hours event for young people created by Wellcome Collection’s Youth Panel. Explore our latest exhibition, enjoy music and performances, take part in workshops and connect with others while enjoying free snacks and drinks.

The programme is inspired by our ‘Genetic Automata‘ exhibition by artists Larry Achiampong and David Blandy, which examines race and identity in an age of avatars, videogames and DNA ancestry.

Experience a spoken word and poetry workshop with The Repeat Beat Poet inspired by some of the themes and ideas explored in the exhibition.

Learn how to extract DNA from a strawberry using household supplies with Tim Barker.

Take part in conversations about equity and ethics in scientific research with Dr Simone Webb and Sasha Henriques.

Immerse yourself in new music and spoken word performances from radical youth arts collective Sounds like Chaos.

Numbers are limited for certain workshops. Sign-up sheets will be available on the night from 18:30.

Any time you want to find a space away from the programme of activities, you can head to our Chill-Out Room to lie down or relax. There will be low lighting, comfortable seating, cushions and mats throughout the room. Make use of ear defenders, earplugs, board games and sensory toys.

Who can come

This activity is for people aged 14 to 19 years old and disabled people aged 14 to 25 years old.
