What you’ll do

Join Damaris Cooke for a Deaf-led British Sign Language (BSL) tour of the '1880 THAT' exhibition. Damaris worked on the the exhibition as the BSL presenter.

Damaris will share her experiences of the process of making the exhibition and of working with the artists Christine Sun Kim and Thomas Mader, both of whom use American Sign Language (ASL). She will discuss some of her favourite  artworks in the exhibition and reflect on the impact of the Milan conference of 1880 on Deaf communities in the UK.

During the tour, you’ll be able to ask questions and share your views. All commentary and conversations will be in BSL, with no voiceover.

Damaris Cooke

Damaris created the BSL interpretation for the '1880 THAT' exhibition, working with the exhibition artists, who use American Sign Language (ASL). In her role as Head of Relationships at Sorenson she helps educate organisations on deaf awareness and build meaningful connections with deaf communities.
