What you’ll do

Join Visitor Experience Assistant Hannah Tyler to discover what is inside a medicine chest from the British Antarctic Expedition from 1910 and one from the Everest Expedition of 1933.

You’ll learn what drugs were included, the stories and science behind how particular plants came to be used in medications, and the colonial exploitation that provided Western explorers with these drugs.

This event has been rescheduled from 10 November.

Hannah Tyler

(she/her)

Hannah is a Visitor Experience Officer with a background in cultural heritage who designs and facilitates activities to engage with collections, from tours to workshops. She researches, writes, and makes art that explores the intersection between science and culture. She aims to question the format of museum storytelling, and the way it condenses complex histories into a single narrative.
