January, 1955 when the Council commenced improvement works No. of Council houses improved to full standard No. of Covincil houses sold No. remaining to be improved 8^3 234 183 6 45 Of these 43 remaining to be improved, only 15 now remain which lack bathroom, W.C., and hot water supply and these are awaiting the provision of public sowers before work can commence owing to drainage difficulties. The remaining 30 have baths and W.C.'S but are without efficient hot water supplies and are substandard in.certadn other respects. All drawings, specifications and tender documents are prepared by the Council's own staff and carried out by contract under the supervision of the staff. Improvement Areas Suspended Improvement Notices issued in respect of Lavenham No, 1 and Lavenham No. 2 Imnrovement Areas a.re due to expire in 1971* The Immediate Im]provement Notices served were duo to e^qoire on the 3rd. May, I969 and the 23rd, November, 1969« The Council resolved not to proceed with action in respect of Improvement Area No. 3i Boxford, or Improvement Area No, 4 Bildeston. It v;as decided that the occupier of any tenanted d\/elling, whether within these areas or not, v;ho wished for the provision of any of the standard' amenities which v;erc lacking from the premises he occupied, could now request the Council to serve notice on the owner for such amenities to be provided.
