![A detailed examination of every bovine carcase was made to discover the presence of cysticercus bovis which is the larval state of the tai^ewonn Taenia saginate found in man. Thirty-two localised infestations (0.7% of animals slaughtered) were dis- covered and an analysis of these cases is as follows : — Cows Heifers Steer Site of lesion:— External masseter muscle... — 5 12 Diaphragm — 1 — Heart — 3 11 The beneficial results of the vigorous steps which have been taken to eliminate tuberculosis from animals during recent years is now being shown in the number of animals found to be diseased on .slaughter. It would appear from our figures set out below that the forecast by several authorities on animal diseases to the eifect that bovine tuberculosis in the 1960s will be for all practical purposes a thing of the past, is well within the realms of possi- bility.
