    The fourth who attempted ovariotomy in this country was Dr. Joseph A. Gallup, Pro- fessor in the Medical College at Woodstock, Vermont. This operation was performed June 12, 1824.1 .... In April [20], 1827, Dr. Trowbridge, of New York, attempted ovariotomy, but desisted on account of adhesions.2 .... In July, 1828, Dr. R. D. Mussey, Professor of Surgery in the Medical Department of Dartmouth College, attempted ovariotomy at Ryegate, Vermont.3 .... Dr. J. Bellinger, of Charleston, South Caro- lina, also attempted ovariotomy in 1828 The fourth who actually performed ovari- otomy in the United States, was Dr. David L.
