![39 notices to cleanse and lime wash the workshops have been served and complied with. 184 occupiers of workshops have lime washed their premises under inspection, but without waiting for the formal notice. 1 case of overcrowding has been reported during the year. 4 workshops have been provided with w.c. accommodation, where none previously existed. 28 failures to affix abstract of the Factory and Workshops Act (s. 133). Lists of out-workers have been carefully kept, and notices in the form prescribed by the Secretary of State, as given in my Report for 1892 (pp. 57 and 58), have been served when necessary. Laundries.—272 visits were made during the year to the 57 laundries at present on the register. Bakehouses.—The duties involved in carrying out the pro- visions of the Acts relating to the sanitary condition of bake- houses have been put under a special Inspector, and during the year 486 visits have been made to bakehouses. There has been a very great improvement secured by this systematic inspection. “ Shop Hours Acts, 1892 and 1895.” In carrying out the provisions of these Acts the Inspector has paid 643 visits to different shops, and the occupiers’ names and addresses have been placed upon a register specially kept for the purpose, together with the date of his visits. Seats for Shop Assistants Act, 1899. [62 and 63 Viet., ch. 21.] 78 premises have been visited under this Act, and 193 visits made during the year ending 1908. SHOP HOURS ACT, 1904.
