![If the relative number of males and females are still pretty near what they were between the two census periods of 1851 and 1861, then the Birth and Death-rates of females in 1870 were respectively 35*7 and 29’6, and those of males 38'3 and 29*6 per 1000 of the estimated population of the same sex.
