About this work

Also known as

British beef debate.

Description

As France continued its ban on British beef, it was discovered that some French animal feed contained processed sewage. Jonathan Dimbleby's guests discuss the food safety and public information issues relating to this and consider the wider range of problems associated with keeping the balance between cheap food and safe production processes. Taking part in the debate are Joyce Quinn, M.P. (Minister of State for Agriculture); Prof. Tim Lang (Thames University); Ian Gardiner (National Farmers' Union); David Byrne (E.U. Consumer Protection Commissioner) and Prof. Hugh Pennington (Aberdeen University).
