Sloughs of the Peyer’s glands occur either as grayish-yellow fragments or occasionally as ovoid masses, an inch or more in length, in which portions of the bowel tissue may be found. Rapid Fall of Temperature. bacilli are not found in the stools until the end of the first or the middle of the second week. Constipation was present in 51 per cent, of this series. Hcemorrhage from the bowels is a serious complication, occurring in about 7 per cent, of all cases. It had occurred in 99 of the 2,000 fatal Munich cases. In 1,500 cases treated in my wards haemorrhage occurred in 118, and in 12 death followed the haemorrhage. It occurred in 1,641 (7 per cent.) of
