    Committees The Committees of the County Council mainly concerned with public health during the year were Health Committee, the Sub-Committees of which were as follows :— Maternity and Home Health Services Sub-Committee, Mental Health Sub-Committee, Ambulance and Public Health Services Sub-Committee. Education Committee (school health service and hygiene in schools) Close liaison is also maintained with other committees, such as the Welfare Committee and the Children’s Committee, and the County Medical Officer of Health acts as adviser on health matters to all committees of the Council. Under Section 46 of the Local Government Act, 1958, functions in respect of the following services are delegated to the Swindon Borough Council:— Health Centres Care of Mothers and Young Children Midwifery Health Visiting Home Nursing Vaccination and Immunisation Domestic Help Prevention of Illness, Care and After-Care.
