Description
Two short papers, author's holograph manuscripts: 1. Biréfringence magnétique des liquides purs (Nouvelles recherches en collaboration avec H[enri] Mouton), 1912 (4 folios). This is an addition to his paper published in the Journal de Physique, Jan., 1911. 2. Sur un projet de construction, à l'Université de Paris, d'un gros électroaimant, c.1920 (3 folios). The electromagnet was eventually installed at the Bureau des Inventions at Bellevue, of which Cotton was appointed Director in 1928, and it was largely of his own design.

The author was professor of physics at the Sorbonne from 1922 to 1941, and held the same post at the Académie des Sciences, of which he was President in 1938.
