obferved the following Method; When I had a Mind to ' make a Drawing of any ObjeB, I placed it in my Uni- verfal Microfcope, and applied it to an improved. Solar apparatus; by which Means the ObjeB was thrown up¬ on a large Sheet of white Paper, and magnified to a De¬ gree, that cannot be conceived by thoje, who have never feen the Experiment. I then took my Pencil, and, went over every Line of the ObjeB, with all imaginable Care and ExaBnefs, dill I had finijhed a compleat Drawing of it; and this being fixed in the Camera Obficura, and jo re¬ duced, according to the JlriBejl Rules of PerfipeBive, to a Size proper for my Book, I .drew from it the Pattern, which was fient to my Engravers. •;And indeed I have been fio extreamly careful with RefipeB to the Copper- Plates, that no Exp.ence has been wanting, in order to their being engraved in the very beft Manner. It is for this Reafion that I am obliged to raifie the Price of my Book much higher, than I ever intended, or even defined; however, as it is not a Matter of Choice, but abfiolute Neceffity, I hope the Publick will be fio indulgent, as to take it into their Confideration.
