Prices of commodities and equipment have increased, and in addition it has been necessary to introduce higher rates of pay for all classes of employees. The reduction in the number of beds has resulted in fewer In-patients being treated, and consequently this has increased the average cost per patient. The Board again wishes to express its grateful thanks to the Derbyshire Hospitals Contributory Association, the Derby Hospitals Saturday Fund, the L.M. & S. Railway (Derby Centre) Hospital Fund, Rolls-Royce Hospital Fund Association, together with other Hospital Fund Committees. By continuing to meet the full cost of treating members of the Funds, these Organisa¬ tions have relieved the Board of much financial anxiety. Special Efforts. The Board acknowledges the continued valuable support of His Worship the Mayor of Derby ; the Mayoress ; the Comforts and Linen League ; the Needlework Guild ; Congregations of Places of Worship for gifts of money, garden produce, flowers,
