About this work
Description
Sound artist Scanner (aka Robin Rimbaud) travels to the Hopital Raymond Poincare in Garches, near Paris, where road injury victims are treated. Chief pathologist there, Professor Michel Durigon, decided it was time to create a Salle des Departs where friends and family could come to say goodbye to their deceased loved ones. Firstly Italian artist Ettore Spalletti designed a room and now Scanner and American composer David Lang are to create a sound scape to fill the room. The programme follows Scanner as he composes his music and also as he comes to terms with the death of his own father in a motorcycle accident when he was a teenager.
