The Vital Statistics are based upon the Registrar General’s estimated population for 1947, which is 21,900. During the past year, 1947, the health of the District has again been good. Special attention is drawn to the compaiative statistics on Rage 6 which shows liow favourably tliose of Clacton compare with England & Wales as a whole. The outstanrling features are : — 1. The absence of Maternal deaths for the third successive year. 2. 'Pile Infantile Mortality under 30. 3. 'Ptie complete freedom from Ihieipeial Fever and Pyrexia. Phe infectious disease rate is also \ery low; Measles being the only disease showing any degree of prevalence, whilst the absence of Dipti’theria is notewortliy and l•e^le(•ts witli tbe national statistics tbe importance of .\nti-dipbthei-itic inoculations of wbicb still too few parents take advantage.
