    PEEFAGE The College Library is first mentioned in tlie Annals in the year 1524. The earliest printed catalogue was made by Dr. Christoplier Merrett, the first Harveian Librarian. It is a quarto entitled ' Catalogus Librorum Instrumentorum Chirurgicorum rerum curiosarum exoticarumque Coll. Med. Lond. Quse Habentur in Musseo Harveano Prseside Edoardo Alstono Equite Aurato,' and was printed in London, December 15, 1660. The books were then arranged in eleven cases, marked by letters A to L, and each case contained four shelves. A second catalogue entitled ' Bibliothecse CoUegii Regalis Medicorum Londinensis Catalogus' was printed in 1757. A manuscript catalogue made by Mr. Benjamin Wheatley and revised from time to time by Dr. Munk, Mr. Joseph Manning, Dr. Payne, and Mr. Horace Barlow has long been in use in the Library, and is now worn out. The College therefore directed, on March 20, 1908, the preparation of the present, which is the third printed catalogue of its Library. This was begun under the supervision of Dr. Payne, Harveian Librarian, by Mr. Horace Barlow, who completed the work after Dr. Payne's death. Periodicals, Reports, and Transactions of Societies are not included in this third catalogue, but for the present are to be looked for in a manuscript list.
