    The Committee found on enquiry that such a plan was about to be adopted, but merely as an experiment, and, therefore, declined to interfere, trusting that the subject would meet with due consideration from the Inspector of Prisons. Thus far, to the knowledge of the Com¬ mittee, no result of the experiment has yet been made public. (VI.)—Burial Grounds. Several additional Burial Grounds have been closed during the past year, yet the City of Manchester remains still unprovided with suitable Cemeteries for the Burial of the Bead. The Committee view with regret the apparent apathy of the Corporate Authorities on this subject, as tending to produce evils which by accumulation will ultimately give rise to serious consequences. (VII.)—Other Nuisances. Numerous cases of Nuisance have been referred to the Committee by private individuals, which, when brought under the notice of the City Authorities, have been speedily remedied. (VIII.)—Chairmen of Lectures. The Committee desire to record their grateful acknowledgment to the following Aldermen and Councillors for presiding at Lectures in various parts of the City : — Messrs. Aldermen Watkins, Neild, Goadsby. Mr. Councillor Bennett, and others. (ii.)— Salford Town Council.
