    before the scheme started. At the same time, to assist the work at the refuse tip a Chaseside shovel was purchased. The work was done by one man who also worked part-time on collection. The decline in the number of bakehouses continues as the sale of wrapped and sliced bread increases. 20 years ago there was a bakehouse in nearly every village, now there are only 9 in the whole district. No change in staff occurred during the year. Details of the work carried out are set out in the following pages and I should like, in conclusion, to thank the Council for their support and the staff for their loyalty and assistance during the year.
