The East coast moreover enjoys an enhanced immunity from Consumption, as compared with inland towns, which is doubtless the result of the dryness of the atmosphere and its invigorating effects upon the constitution. The following 1 able gives the sex and age distribution of the deaths from Phthisis, from which it will be seen that there were an equal number of male and female deaths and that the bulk of the deaths occur between the ages of 25 and 45.
