Ari dit i ona E n u i'Dnc-nt , 'Additional equipment purchased during the year include a j'lobile X-re.y sot and couch, a Hinnitts G-as and Air Apparatus, a Mushin Anaesthetic‘Absorber, an instrument cupboard, Cambridge Electrocardiograph, refrigerator, steam oven, calorimeter and microtome for the laboratory, new bowl sterilisers and an operating cystoscopc and urethroscope. It is recognised that the three County Hospitals cannot serve in entirety the v/hole of the County Adr:iinistrative Area and patients are admitted to Yolunuary Hospitals and the Plospitals of other Local Authorities, During the financial year 1940-6 tlie County Council made grants amounting to £^9,394 to Voluntary Hospitals under the provisions of the Pub]ic Health Act,1956. In addition, cases have been admitted to Local Authority Hospitals either for specialist services not pre-vided at the County Hospitals or by the location of their residence in the areas of the County ixiconvcniently situated for County Hospital treatment end in proximj.ty to the hospitals of other onthorities.
