Description
Five-part documentary series on some of the pioneers of modern surgery, combining archive footage, dramatic reconstructions, and interviews with surviving witnesses and participants. Part 3: Heroic Failures. Seeks to explain why surgeons persisted until very recently with radical mastectomies more than half a century after the much gentler and less drastic lumpectomy procedure pioneered by Geoffrey Keynes had first become available.
