P, &c. &c, \ Dear Sir, AS I underfland you are going to difpofe of your pills in a more publick manner than you have hitheito done, I think it but juftly due to their merits, to render my teftimony of the benefit I have not only myfelf derived from them, but alfo a variety of perfons of all ages both in America and this country, labouring under Gouty, Bili- ous and Nervous Complaints, to whom during the courfe of feven years, I have adminiflered them, and from whom I never failed to receive thanks for the relief I helped them to. \ From a fevere gun-{hot wound I con traced a bad ftate of health, accompanied with a variety of difagreeable fymp- toms, and amongft others, a frequent and painful acidity in theftomach and a conftant pain in the ball of the left thumb, attended with fmall livid fpots ; and this pain was always fevereft, when the acidity and other complaints in my ftomach raged the moft : for eight years I never was entirely free from thefe diforders. I confulted feveral eminent phyficians, with little advantage, and without ob- taining from any of them a fatisfa&cry account of the na- ture of my diforder, although by my own obfervation I was enabled todeferibe to them an evident affinity between the complaints in my ftomach, and the pain in the ball of my thumb, becaufe when, according to my cuffcm, I took a couple of table fpoonfuls of magnefia, the pain in my thumb$
