    I Closet Accommodation. During the year 9 privies and 303 pail] closets wore converted to the water carriage system, and 10 addi- tional closets were provided so as to give separate closet accommo-j elation to each house. The work of the conversion of closets to the water carriage S3‘stcmj was begun in the year 1901, and since that time 2,081 privy middens] and 5,027 pail closets have been converted, while 541 additional] water cle;sets have been jorovideel, a total of 7,649. The clfjsets remaining to be converted number 1,534 pail closets] and about 61 pri\'y^ middens, but a few of the latter are not in use.] No district in the Borough is 3’et entirely clear of pail closets,] but the Winshill district is almost clear. The work of collection' of closet refu.se gets more difficult ever}- year owing to the remaining] closets being scattered in nearl}' every street and district in the Borough, so that the completion of the conversion scheme becomes] more urgent every year. Scavenging. The scavenging is entirely carried out bj' the Refuse] Removal Department of the Corporation.
