    INFANT MORTALITY Deaths of Infants■uader -one year of age Males ■ Females Total Legitimate’ 1 1 2 Ille gitimate 1 - ■ 1 The following gives a list of the deaths of infants under one year of age, giving age at, and cause of death:- (•i> Male 1 day 1(a) Pulmonary atelectasis 11 Cardiac failure (ii) Female 2 v/eeks 1(a) Bronchopneumonia 11 Prematurity (iii ) Male 45 mins. 1(a) Cerebral haemorrhage (b) Breech 11 Tv/in delivery There were no deaths of infants under one year of age in i960 and 1961. There were 5 deaths in 1951. DEATHS Males Females Total 32 45 77 There v;ere 5^ deaths in 1959 and 9^+ in 1965* There were k deaths attributed to malignant disease of lung in 1956. The death rate per 1,000 of population for Monmouthshire was 15*59 . 5
