![36 As the Council resolved to supply outfits for the bacteriological examination of sputum from suspected cases of pulmonary tuberculosis, the following letter was forwarded to the medical practitioners in the borough, and numerous requests to be supplied with outfits were received :— (Encl.) Dear Sir, [Copy.] Metropolitan Borough of Poplar, Public Health Offices, Bow Boad, E. (Corner of Fairfield Boad), January 3rd, 1912. Pulmonary Tuberculosis. I beg to inform you that the Public Health and Housing Committee have resolved to recommend the Borough Council to supply, free of charge, to medical practitioners, outfits for the bacteriological examination of sputum from suspected cases of pulmonary tuberculosis residing within the Borough of Poplar. The Council will have the samples bacteriologically examined at their ovvn expense and the results will be forwarded to medical Practitioners in due course. I shall therefore be glad if you will inform me whether you wish to be furnished with outfits. A stamped envelope is herewith enclosed. I am, dear Sir, Yours faithfully, Dr Medical Officer of Health.
