    25 after a long discussion, and the Petition being slightly amended it was resolved that the Petition do stand for sealing at the next ordinary meeting of the Vestry, which was done on the 8th May 1889 On the 24th July 1889, the Chairman read a letter which he had received from the Local Government Board, forwarding the Vestry Clerk's replies to the enquiries re the Petition, and the same was referred to the Law and Parliamentary Committee (with the addition of Messrs. Goodwin and Dyer) for consideration. On the 12th September, 1889, the following report was presented to the Veetry by the Special Committee, and was adopted:— Report of the Committee appointed to consider letter from the Local Government Board, with Vestry Clerk's replies to queries. Stating— lst.—That the following Petition, with appended documents marked A and B, was sent to the Local Government Board on the 11th May, 1889 : Unto the Local Government for England and Wales. The Humble Petition of the Vestry of the Parish of Fulham, in the County of London, under their Common Seal. Sheweth, 1. That the Statements made in the Vestry assembled (a copy of which is hereto appended marked A) that the Shillings received for summonses issued was appropriated in the following manner, about one-third for expenses, one-third to the Collector in whose district the amount was collected, and one-third to the Vestry Clerk, have not, we are informed, any foundation in fact, one Collector states that he has not shared for seven years, another that he has not shared for five years, another that he has not shared for three years, another that he has not shared for two years, and two Collectors state that they have not shared in the Shillings. The Vestry have been unable to obtain any account from the Vestry Clerk as to the disbursement of these amounts prior to 1887. In February, 1887, the Overseers instructed the Vestry Clerk to pay all surplus moneys from the Shillings into the Overseers' account at the Bank, and in accordance therewith the sum of £55 was so paid in, but we find that a Rate Collector 2 years ago paid over a cheque, value £50, to the Vestry Clerk, which cheque was not presented, and no further money was paid into the Overseers' account at Bank until March in the present year, when by a resolution of this Vestry a Committee was appointed to law up Petition to your Honorable Board.
